Maundy Thursday Eucharist

Maundy Thursday takes its name from the word meaning “mandate” or “command.” On this night we remember The Last Supper, our Lord’s last meal with his disciples, and his act of washing of the disciples’ feet, modeling the servanthood to which each of us is called. We also strip the altar, baring the worship area of any adornment, in preparation for Good Friday.

We are then called to “...watch with (Jesus) one hour” as he requested of his disciples at Gethsemane. This vigil is held throughout the night until 6:30 a.m. when the first liturgy of Good Friday begins.
