The Diocese of Virginia is one church of almost 200 mission-orientated congregations. This diocese is the largest in the Episcopal Church and stretches from Northern Virginia to Richmond, from the West Virginia border to the Northern Neck. The Diocese is committed to welcoming all sorts and conditions of God's people and to empowering its members to grow in faith and to share the good news of God's abundant love to those in their communities.
The Episcopal Church of the United States is part of the Anglican Communion, meaning it evolved out of the Church of England back in the late 1700s and continues to have close ties with Anglican brothers and sisters around the world. The Episcopal Church brings together centuries of tradition, the word of God that we find in the Old and New Testaments, and active participation in the worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. St. Mary's is one of almost 200 Episcopal Churches in the Diocese of Virginia. We are active not only in our community, our diocese and the national church, but we also have many established relationships with the Anglican Communion throughout the world.
