Sung Contemplative Prayer For the Close of the Day
SUNDAY EVENINGS
9 O’CLOCK
BEGINNING AGAIN SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
Compline, from the Latin “to complete,” is offered when the work of the day is completed, and the quietness of the evening settles over the hearts and minds of those who have come together in thanksgiving for the day that has passed and in anticipation of God’s gift of a new day. Silence in the midst of beautiful music, candles, and darkness are some of the powerful and moving characteristics of the Compline service.
St. Mary's began offering the service of Sung Compline every Sunday night on Epiphany (January 6) 2008. Every Sunday night between 20 and 50 folks gather in candlelit darkness for this wonderful, contemplative service. Each week, Compline is led by a men's or women's schola (a choir specializing in chant). Compline will not take place during the summer but will pick back up in September. We hope you will mark your calendars and join us for this very short, simple evening service.

We are seeking people to help out once each month with singing and with the hospitality team.
